At King’s Academy Ringmer we aim to develop well rounded, confident individuals who are world ready.
To do this, we place Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural education (SMSC) at the heart of the academy. Every pupil is taught Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) as part of their timetabled lessons and reflects on issues related to SMSC. These sessions are closely related to the academy assembly programme which takes place during tutor time. Each subject area at the school also contributes to PSHE and SMSC through the curriculum, and through enrichment activities offered outside formal lessons.
The Academy values are Kindness, Ambition and Resilience. Through our tutor time character programme, we aim to promote these through our curriculum alongside our CARE principles of Curiosity, Altruism, Respect and Emotional Intelligence. From the beginning of Year 7 until the end of Year 11, all our students strive to live according to the academy’s values. It is important that every member of the KAR community - staff and students alike - see these beliefs as their own.
They are not just the values we hold deep in our academy, they are also an extension of the values of the UK. We hold that our Academy should provide students with a deep sense of belonging to a caring community, the belief in themselves and their unbounded potential and the opportunities to become more than they thought was possible.
You can see a snapshot of how SMSC and British Values are at the core of life at KAR through our SMSC in action document. This provides a snapshot of the amazing activities, events, trips, enrichments and lessons which have taken place at King’s Academy Ringmer over the past 12 months, as shared on our social media and in our weekly newsletter. We hope you enjoy this celebration of life at KAR!
