KAR Newsletter - 09/06/23

This week's KAR newsletter - 09/06/23

This week's message from our principal, Mrs Williams

Summer Uniform

The weather is going to be very warm next week so from Monday we will be moving to summer uniform. Summer uniform is as follows:

Blazers - do not need to be brought to school - some students use them to store equipment so they can still continue to wear them if they wish.

Jumpers - are an optional winter accessory so cannot be worn unless under a blazer. Therefore we do not expect to see jumpers as part of summer uniform.

Ties - should be worn with white shirts into school and can be removed with a teacher’s permission in lessons and at break and lunch.

Shirts - short or long sleeved can be worn, when tie removed top button can be undone.

If the temperature continues to rise we will make a decision the day before and advise students to attend in School PE kit. This will be then monitored on a daily basis.

Students who do not adhere to the summer uniform requirements will be sanctioned in the usual way.

Thank you in advance, for supporting our continued high standards.

Summer Performing Arts Showcase - 21st June 2023 - 6pm

We would like to invite you to our end-of-year showcase to celebrate the special achievements in dance and music of some of our most dedicated students in Year 7 - 10. There will be a variety of performances ranging from larger groups to solos and small groups across a range of styles and you will get a chance to see the dance performance from this year’s Lets Dance entry.

As in previous years, our priority is to ensure as many students, parents and families as possible can attend the event and enjoy the performances. We are very aware of stretched finances for families and so the event will be free to attend. We would be really grateful if you could indicate whether you will attend by filling in the eventbrite link below - this is purely for us to gauge numbers and ensure we have sufficient seating in place. We look forward to seeing you there!

Message from Ringmer Parish Council - Village Playground

The Parish council have reported that a piece of playground equipment was vandalised earlier this week and now have reports of teenagers in the playground on the equipment in a way which could potentially cause damage. There is no evidence of whom has caused this, but they have asked us to reiterate that the playground is for the use of younger children. Thank you for your cooperation.

Help is at Hand – Open for Parents

In case you didn’t know, Open for Parents continues to offer a range of FREE short webinars and longer courses which help parents/carers with those common issues that arise in any family. This is for parents/carers who would like support with their child’s behaviour.

They have added some new courses in this quarter. For example, have a look at page 18 with the Amity programme. This is specifically for parents who are still together but who are in conflict that is impacting on the children.

Acknowledging that anxiety in our children is a real issue at the moment, we are also running our Triple P Fear-Less group which is aimed particularly at parents whose children are showing moderate to high levels of anxiety (see page 16).

Please see the attached booklet for further information including contact details

Safeguarding

Next week it is going to be very warm and we are adjusting our uniform accordingly. Please ensure that your child has a refillable water bottle and if needed sunscreen is applied before they come to school. Please do not send students in with sunscreen as there are plenty of shady areas for them to sit in. As always, if the weather becomes excessively hot I will send a directive the night before, for students to attend in PE kit.

Kind regards,

Sian Williams
