KAR Newsletter - 24/03/23

This week's KAR newsletter - 24/03/2023

Year 10 Work Experience documentation

Details of placements secured for work experience are now being shared with Year 10 students. Not all placements have been sorted yet, so if your child has submitted their options please remain patient while our Provider works to arrange them. The documentation will be sent out as soon as it is ready.

If your child is arranging their own work experience and has not yet provided all the details, we will need to wait for that in order to proceed.

There may naturally be some changes of mind and disappointment if your child has not secured their first choice. Please encourage them to consider the position and its merits before requesting a change; or arrange the details of an own placement and provide the details.

Enrichment Week 2023

A reminder that choices are due today and that the form emailed out on 3rd March and again on the 15th needs completing to book the free options. If you have paid for activities online, these will be secure

DT Trip - B&W Speakers

Year 11 had the pleasure of visiting the amazing Bowers and Wilkins Speakers factor yesterday. The factory tour is invaluable for their DT exam in July. They were also lucky enough to experience their listening studio to hear their products in action first hand. We can't wait to go back next year with our next cohort of Year 11 Students.

Dance Show - Congress Eastbourne

Our talented dancers represented the school impeccably last night at the Congress Theatre for Let’s Dance 2023! They did themselves and their loved ones proud. A huge thank you to Mrs Bailey for choreographing and inspiring our performers!

Fearless - Motivational Speaker

We had the amazing Chris from Fearless come in to do a fantastic assembly on mindset and confidence. All of KS3 had the opportunity to hear about his work and methods and even got the chance to trail one of them during the assembly.

Kings Academy Ringmer Art department, returns with the Yr10 Art and Photography Mocks. These started on Monday 13th, with 10 hours of exam conditions over 2x days.

Myself and Ms Hook are immensely proud of the yr10 arts cohort, who have maintained expectations in lessons and then exceeded these by creating exciting, emotive and mature final intended realisation of their main them on Portraiture & Identity, then into sub-themes of in all students completing the exams.

We hope to continue to celebrate their success at the annual Art Exhibition in July 2023 TBC.

Lastly, please can I take this opportunity to thank support from KAR TA's during the exams and lessons, also to Ms Hook and especially to Mr Smith our Art and D&T technician.

ECO News

The Eco Reps were hard at work again this week, helping to put in the new SuDS (Sustainable Drainage System) planter outside the front of the school.  Despite the rain, they worked really hard and learned about the importance of rainwater management and how devices such as the planter, help to manage and reduce flooding, providing water in times of shortage.  Not to mention the benefit to wildlife and the pollinators who will benefit from the plants that have been planted in the top layer.

We are so proud of our Eco Reps at Kings Academy Ringmer and their enthusiasm, passion and commitment to improving the environment and helping us continue with our journey to be sustainable, environmentally focused and to strive to improve our environment.  Well done to our Eco Reps.  Mrs Teague.
