What a fantastic week it has been at King's Academy Ringmer!
As another Enrichment Week draws to a close, I wanted to take the opportunity to thank everyone who has contributed to making it such a memorable experience for our students. The feedback from students throughout the week has been overwhelmingly positive, and the quality, creativity and enthusiasm shown in the work they have produced has been nothing short of incredible.
Enrichment Week is one of the highlights of the KAR calendar because it reminds us that education extends far beyond the classroom. It is about discovering new interests, developing confidence, building relationships and creating experiences that our students will remember long after they leave school.
This simply would not be possible without the exceptional commitment of our staff. Over many months, they have planned, organised and led an extraordinary range of activities, both in school and across the local area and beyond. Their willingness to give their time, creativity and energy to provide these opportunities for our young people is something of which we are immensely proud.
The breadth of experiences on offer this week has been truly remarkable. Students have explored their creativity through book binding, sketchbook making, wet and needle felting, creative writing, graffiti poetry, storytelling, dance workshops and music production, while others have challenged themselves through rocket building, trebuchet engineering, detective investigations, multi-sports and outdoor adventure activities.
Our cultural programme has taken students around the world without leaving Sussex, with activities celebrating Spanish cuisine, South African culture, Harry Potter, humanities, history, geography and religious education, alongside opportunities to develop performance skills through acting workshops and music for film.
Beyond the school gates, students have enjoyed an exciting programme of visits and experiences including Buzz Active at Bushy Wood, woodland walks, the Science Museum, theatre trips to see Wicked, horse and pony experiences, English fieldwork, Branching Out, and a host of other outdoor learning opportunities. These experiences help to broaden horizons, develop resilience and create memories that will last for years to come.
Alongside Enrichment Week, we have also continued our long-standing commitment to providing Year 10 Work Experience for every student. Coordinating placements for an entire year group is a significant undertaking, and we are incredibly grateful to the many local employers who continue to support our students so generously. During our visits this week, the feedback from employers has been exceptional. They have spoken highly of our students' maturity, professionalism, enthusiasm and willingness to learn – something of which they, their families and our staff should be incredibly proud.
I would also like to thank the many parents and carers who have taken the time to send messages of appreciation throughout the week. Your kind words mean a great deal to our staff, who have invested so much time and effort into making this week such a success.
Most importantly, thank you to our fantastic students. They have embraced every opportunity with enthusiasm, curiosity and maturity, demonstrating the very best of King's Academy Ringmer. Whether they were building rockets, performing music, exploring history, learning new skills outdoors or representing the school on work experience, they have been outstanding ambassadors for our academy.
As one fantastic week comes to an end, we now look forward to celebrating another important milestone as we head to our Year 11 Prom this evening – a wonderful opportunity to recognise and celebrate an exceptional year group as they complete their journey with us.
After that, our attention turns to another favourite event in the KAR calendar... Sports Day! We look forward to seeing the same enthusiasm, teamwork and school spirit on display once again.

Reminder we are finishing early on Thursday 23 July 2026
Students who travel on the service buses 29B and 125 will need to be collected as the bus companies cannot change service bus route times. R107, R108 and 318 will collect early from school at 12.25pm. The B&H buses will collect as per their usual table ie: 12:25pm.
RE Department
Year 9 created their own marvellous mandalas in RE this week. For Buddhists, Mandalas represent the cosmos and the path to enlightenment. They help practitioners focus the mind, purify their consciousness and awaken their inner Buddha nature.
Amazing student achievement - Taekwondo
One of our Year 8 students, Sage, entered the southern taekwondo championships last Sunday. He managed to achieve a gold medal for taekwondo patterns in his class, making him the southern champ for that grade. He also entered the sparing class and was put up against belts and ages higher graded than himself. He came away with a bronze in this class. Well done Sage.

Ringmer Horticultural and Home Produce Club
This Saturday is the Ringmer Horticultural Show and Kings Academy Ringmer will be entering some of the classes. If you are able, please pop down to Ringmer Village Hall in the afternoon to see how we have got on. Our students are keen to hang on to the baking trophy!
Date for your diary – NatureLinks Youth Action Project Open Day – Saturday 19 September 2026
A fantastic day out – Naturelinks will be showcasing the projects they are running over the year which young people can get involved in. There is usually something for everyone, covering different interests, from practical conservation skills to working with the River Ouse charter to creative arts and design and also film making for Nature. Naturelinks hope some of our students Y9 upwards will be interested to join them next year. The Open Day has taster sessions running throughout the day to get an idea of the projects Naturelinks will be working on. Please see flyer below.

Love Art Studios – Summer Holiday Creative Clubs
Love Art Studios are delighted to invite young people to their Summer Holiday Creative Clubs, a series of inspiring, hands-on sessions designed for a range of ages and interests.
For Ages 10+ Textile Workshops
Calm, creative textile workshops where older children can choose from knitting, crochet, macrame, weaving to create unique pieces. Led by experienced designer Chris Judge (with over 30 years in the clothing and textile industry), this small-group session will guide children through simple sewing techniques (hand stitch or machine, depending on confidence).
A wonderful opportunity for those who enjoy designing and making, with plenty of time to focus and create something they’re proud of.
