The Tree of Thanks at St Mary's Church, Ringmer

The Tree of Thanks is looking amazing! I know some of you have already been to tie a ribbon on the branches.  A final reminder that the tree will be there until late on 7 March so it's perhaps a good time to give thanks for the teachers and support staff who will be ensuring our schools are open from 8 March.  With thanks, Marisa Hayes, St Mary's Church Authorised Lay Minister.

East Sussex Libraries

East Sussex Libraries have created an online platform to help support and promote wellbeing for adults, families, and young people. Here you will find a range of activities, interactive resources, and information for these age groups, such as mindfulness exercises, ways to eat and move well, links to useful websites and reading-well book lists.

Don’t forget you can also access FREE eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMagazines and eNewspapers with an East Sussex Library card. Click here for more information.

SEND

Young people who have Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND) should have the same opportunities as any other young person to succeed in education, get a job, and become a confident, independent adult. Having an additional need or disability can sometimes act as a barrier, but there is support available in East Sussex to help overcome these barriers.

That’s why East Sussex County Council has created a resource to help young people who have SEND and the parents, carers and professionals who support them. The Journey to Adulthood infographic contains guidance and information about the services available to 11-25 year olds in East Sussex to help them make decisions about their future and support a successful transition to adulthood.

Check out the infographic on the Careers East Sussex website: https://careerseastsussex.co.uk/journey-to-adulthood

The information is separated by age into four main categories:

  • Education
  • Careers
  • Life Skills (things like cooking, money management, and forming positive relationships)
  • Reviews (EHCP and SEN Support Annual Review meetings)

Check out the Journey to Adulthood infographic on the Careers East Sussex website to find out more.

We’d love to hear your feedback on our infographic. If you have any comments, please email SupportedEmployment.ESCC@eastsussex.gov.uk

Safeguarding focus

Childnet is a great website which supports online safety in young people; it supports students, parents and teachers. This week I would like to direct you to the page on bullying which has frequently asked questions and top tips
